Description / Review / Instructor

The In The Spread Rigging Strip Baits video shares with you how to rig simple baits for wahoo, dolphin, sailfish, marlin, swords, kingfish, tuna and so many other species with our step by step process. If nothing else, strip bait fishing produces results! If you could only go fishing with one type of bait or lure, for any given species, it would have to be a strip bait. Do you know the difference between a tuna bait or a kingfish bait or a mahi bait when it comes to strip baits? Will an artificial help you when it comes to catching mahi mahi? Can you go faster with an artificial bait? It is easier to see out in your spread? Don't just find out the answer to these questions. Find out why! From the quintessential bonito strips to artificial strips we will show you the most popular styles of rigging. Prefer mullet bait or squid bait? We also show you how to rig mullet strips and squid strips, everything you need to know to rig strip baits is in this In the Spread video. Learn how to expertly rig strips with single hooks, double hooks, wire, mono and a variety of different skirts. Why does ballyhoo outsell a strip bait but why does a strip bait catch more than ballyhoo most of the time? Durability, flexibility and simplicity is the answer! It is all here, so you can look like a hero on your next outing. In this video, RJ Boyle explains the difference between a ballyhoo bait and a strip bait based on how many bites you can get per bait, how much room they take up in your box and how much easier they are to rig and make them swim properly. Fishing with squid strips definitely has its advantages, so we dive into how to hook the squid strips, what type of brine to use and what they are good for. Rigging Bonito strips however is the most popular type of strip bait so we will focus on that and at the end of this film you will see a Panama Bait which has been considered one of the sickest strips ever! This type of rig is specially good for swordfish. If you prefer to fish this lure on the surface, you will be using a chugger style lure which is also discussed in this section. Here's a list of the tools and tackle you will need (For some of the more simple rigs you will need very little): Seawitches (Dirty water? use brighter colors), Dawn patrol lures, for a Kingfish rig or planer rig you will need Mylar lure, Compact squid or squirt squid, Lead, Rubber Strip, Fresh cut bonito strips white silver and black (depending on target species), Squid strips, Panama bait (Great for Blue Marlin and swordfish... also called Bonita belly. You will also need Hooks, Fluorocarbon, Monofilament, Swivels, Crimps, Cigar Leads, No. 6 Wire, Soft Stainless, Crimping tools, Dykes (Concave Cutters), Flat pliers, Bait knife, Rigging Needle, Pair of cutters and Floss. As always, all the specifications of weights, sizes, colors etc are detailed in the video. As an added bonus we also have a test run so you can see how these lures and strips swim next to the boat, and rigging strip baits could not be complete without some very basic information on crimping and how to use your crimping tool. For more information on crimping, crimps and crimping tools please see our dedicated crimping video.
