Rowley Shoals Fishing - Learn the Reef

The shelf atoll of Rowley Shoals is a remarkable fishing destination. These are atolls that sit atop the continental shelf 150 miles off the west coast of Australia in the Indian Ocean. If you look at the seafloor topography image provided by Hilton's Realtime Navigator, you can see what a dynamic marine environment awaits. There is so much insane structure here. The fishing should be off the charts.

The In The Spread team is headed here this week to explore the reef fishing and offshore fishing, as we team up with the Reel Teaser charter operation. Prior to this venture, there was not very much coverage for this part of the world, in the way of satellite imagery maps. Tom Hilton, creator of http://www.hiltonsoffshore.com, decided we needed fish finding maps to measure altimetry, SST or sea surface temperature, wind, waves, chlorophyll. Tom and I will be utilizing his service to quickly find the most fishable areas. His satellite imagery is the absolute best in the industry, so I am confident we will find the blue marlin, black marlin, yellowfin tuna, sailfish and wahoo we will be looking for. This will be a first for the part of the world, so I know Tom is excited and so is Ross Newton, owner of the Reel Teaser.

We will be filming here for a week, so we should be coming back with some fantastic new fishing videos. We will be targeting all the usual offshore fishing species, as I mentioned before, and the legendary reef donkeys like GT's or giant trevally, dogtooth tuna, coral trout, emperor fish and several other species.
