MirrOlure Provoker for Fall Speckled Trout
One of my go to baits for Fall trout fishing on the Nature Coast is the MirrOlure Provoker. It's a hearty 5" soft plastic bait that is scented. It can be fished weedless, with a jig head and under a cork. The many acres of flats with hard bottom and rock grass are the places to target big trout. Around 3 foot is the best depth and a little breeze and outgoing tide helps. Two of the best colors that are working for me are watermelon red flake and gold body /red back. Any given day though the color can change so I also keep bourbon and glow. I like to rig mine with a popping cork with the bait about 20" underneath on a 1/8th red jig head. Make a long cast ahead of the boat and give the cork a good pop and pause retrieve. Most of the strikes with be when the bait falls beneath the cork. Good luck and good fishing. Stay tuned up with In The Spread.
